Shots, Again!!

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a good weekend and spent Friday 'Remembering'. We all went to Vernon to visit Joe's Mom and sister driving up Thursday after Joe got off work. It was wonderful to see everyone and his Auntie Dawn was even able to come up and see Ciana Saturday night. We took her to a Vernon Vipers hockey game on Friday which she seemed to enjoy, the noise didn't seem to bother her and she really liked all the attention she got in her little bear jumper. Saturday we went into town for brunch then we all had naps in the afternoon. Ciana began each night sleeping in her playpen that her Nanny bought for her (she also napped in it quite happily) but usually during the night she would inevitably wind up in our bed. Oh well, we are starting from scratch now that we are home. I think one of the most exciting things for us as her parents was waking up to snow Sunday morning. There was a lovely blanket of the white stuff and we had snow until just passed the toll boths. Ciana's eyes were wide and she didn't expect it to be cold I don't think!
So the only other really eventful thing to include in this passage was her six month doctor's appointment yesterday afternoon. We saw Dr. Yun who shares Dr. Ross' patients and looked after me some of the time while still pregnant. Anyway Ciana is a healthy 18 lbs and 6 oz's. She meets or exceeds all her milestones and is in the top 75% of her age group for height. The doctor was pleased to hear about the response Ciana has had so far to veggies and fruit and very understanding when we talked about the fact that I had weaned Ciana (usually the medical community really pushes breastfeeding until one year). We discussed Ciana's sleep patterns and the fact that she is still getting up at least once a night to eat which Doctor Yun said was very normal but that we should be 'training' her now to learn to put herself to sleep at naptime and night without the help of a bottle or rocking her to sleep. It will be a process that takes at least a week but doesn't involve her screaming herself to sleep. I will keep you posted as to how it goes. Then my poor but brave baby received her shots. Two in one leg and one in the other. As before she really didn't know what was going on or why we were pinching her leg but by the third shot she was screaming bloody murder, then after a cuddle and a couple minutes she was back to her old self trying to put the paper that covers the examining table in her mouth.
Today I don't even thinks she knows anything other than her toys and that's just fine with me. We are all supposed to go for out flu shots tomorrow night but her Dad is being a chicken ;) so it will be just her and I and then she has no more shots or doctor's appointments until she is a year which is great because I don't think I can handle any more!!
