Into Everything
Well halfway through the first week of the year. I have been going to the gym, Joe is back at work and Ciana is into everything. She is no longer the babe that you can leave on the living room floor while you put on a pot of coffee or answer the phone. Nope, she now requires constant watching and even then you almost need to have one hand on her at all times. I remember when my brother was little my parents had this contraption known by most as a harness with a leash, but known to my brother as his 'train' and now I see its true value. I was making dinner tonight and although I was keenly aware of her being at my feet, I was watching her out of the corner of my eye explore the bottom of the stove, the drawer, when she missed grabbing the handle and "SPLAT" face first, or I should say, nose first into the stainless steel, sliding down until she was face down onto the cold tile floor. Before I could scoop her into my arms came the bone-chilling wailing. Don't despair though, within minutes she was helping me stir the veggies and much more interested in the seeds and debris on the cutting board than my kisses.
Speaking of kisses, I wonder if all kids go through this - Ciana is really interested in kissing, she will lean in, close her eyes and await you to make kissing noises before she erupts into giggles. The funniest/worst part is that she prefers to do all this with a wide open mouth, and mostly with her father! The more slobber the better (her, not him). Its a never ending ride with this girl. I'll be back with more tales soon I'm sure.
